St Clair County Sheriff deputies responded to a report
of shots fired with multiple victims. They arrived to find a
29yr-old woman and a 57-year-old man, both with gunshot
wounds. Police say the woman had run to the man’s
residence and pounded on his door, but the suspect chased
her, shot her and shot the neighbor.
The two were transported to McLaren Port Huron Hospital by
EMS. Further investigation led to an apartment in the area
where Lt. Joel Wood was found dead from multiple gunshot
wounds.
Deputies determined the victim Lt. Joel Wood had been
visiting the woman when the attack occurred. The suspect had
fled into nearby woods but was found around 5am and arrested
without incident at a gas station on Telegraph Rd. in the
city of Southfield.
30-year-old Joshua Michael Bauman of Mount Morris was
arraigned and denied bond. He faces charges of first degree
murder, two counts of attempted murder, first degree home
invasion and felony firearms possession.
